Eureka’s Christmas Episode "Do You See What I See?" a Family Hit!
Eureka’s latest episode, Do You See What I See?, is an episode with a twist. Although the idea of a Eureka episode in which my favorite characters become cartoons made me a little nervous, especially at first, once the episode got going, I was hooked. Not only that, but my entire family enjoyed the episode so much that it has probably become a Christmas classic for all of us.
Watch the episode online at Syfy Rewind (if it’s still available) or from Amazon.

For some reason I had put this as Deputy Andy but on second watching I caught my mistake!
Do You See What I See? has the entire town of Eureka (with a few exceptions) becoming animated. With the help of a Super Photon Generator and a little something extra, Carter, Allison, & the gang end up living out their own cartoon in one of the most inspired, funny, and memorable Christmas episodes I’ve seen from any television series, ever.
Several different styles of animation made an appearance in the episode (see the images to the right), and although I can tell them apart when I see them, I have no expertise when it comes to animation and cartoons so I don’t know enough to identify the techniques or styles. I do know there was traditional drawn animation and stop-motion clay animation in the episode.
Whoever came up with this idea was truly inspired. Although I do generally enjoy holiday specials from the TV shows I watch, I can’t say that I always rewatch in future years. In this case, I see lots of future repeats for myself and my family.
If you didn’t have a chance to watch the Eureka Christmas episode, you should watch it now. Especially if you have children. This is a quintessential Eureka episode and it’s a holiday episode to boot. :-)
At the moment, you can watch the episode online at Syfy Rewind or from Amazon.

Season 5 will be Eureka’s last
I heard the sad news last week about season 5 being the last season of Eureka. I wasn’t as surprised as I might have imagined, even though I really wasn’t expecting the cancellation. However, the show will have run for a total of 5 years at the time of its end, and I think that it has been a good run. I wish we had more time with these characters–these people–but at least I have thoroughly enjoyed what time I’ve had.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Syfy announced that it was ordering some season 6 episodes but then later withdrew that announcement, saying instead that Eureka’s 5th season would be its last. There was an extra episode ordered for season 5, presumably to allow the show runners a chance to wrap up the series in a way that leaves fans happy.
I would love to see some made-for-tv Eureka movies in the future, maybe once a year. I wonder if we could convince Syfy to give them a shot?
Still, I’m terribly saddened to know that Eureka has an end date and that its only a season away.

New Eureka Season 4 Merchandise – Astreaus Track Suit!
Oh, my! There’s now an Astreaus Track Suit Set for sale for the Eureka television show! Okay, I know my enthusiasm might be excessive, but I just find it really cool that they would be selling a track suit based on the fitness training for the mission to Titan. It looks awesome!

Up In the Air, Episode 4.14
Up In the Air is an episode about a bank robbery, or so Carter thinks until he arrives at the crime scene, ready to dust off his crime solving skills, only to realize someone didn’t rob the bank, someone stole it. But the case turns out to be more problematic than a simple theft of a bank. Seems objects are losing mass and floating away.

While I liked this episode the first time I watched it, I liked it much more the second viewing. I gave it only 3/5, but I’m going to have to revise it and give it at least a 4, possibly a 5. Up In the Air holds up to rewatching, with an interesting story and more than a few fun moments that are just as good the second time around as the first.
Up In the Air not only propels the story of Allison’s strange encounter forward but also deepens the building relationship between Jo and Zane and heightens the tension between Fargo and Dr. Parrish, while making great use of guest star Felicia Day as Dr. Holly Marten (I misspelled her name on a previous post–will correct it soon). I think I was distracted when I watched this episode the first time because I can’t believe I missed how good it actually was.
This Eureka episode is fun and exciting and adds quite a bit to the ongoing stories involving Allison, Jo and Zane, and Fargo, Holly, and Parrish. I loved it!

Glimpse, Episode 4.13
In Glimpse, Jo and Carter get to see glimpses of probable future events because of a technology Zane has created. When they glimpse a possible cataclysmic explosion, they’re left trying to figure out when and why so they can stop it before it destroys Eureka and everyone in town.

The forward movement of Jo and Zane’s relationship was a fun surprise for me. That relationship has always been a story I loved in the Eureka series, although I admit I also enjoyed the first and second season hints of Jo and Taggart and Jo and Fargo. I just really like Jo, what can I say. I think she deserves happiness in romance and hope she gets it.
Eureka still feels fresh and it’s nearing the end of season 4. There are a few things I would like, such as more time with some of the classic Eureka characters whom I’ve noticed have had much smaller roles since the season 4 shake up that was the time travel event of Founder’s Day. Overall though, Eureka stands strong, giving us fun and excitement with each new episode.
The episode was a real pleasure to watch and I enjoyed it as much as last week’s episode. This is another 6/5 Eureka Fan Favorite that I’ll be watching again and again!

Eureka T-Shirt – Comic-Con 2011
This Comic-Con Eureka Cloaking Device T-Shirt is exclusive for Comic-Con 2011.
It’s a simple t-shirt, with the words "MY OTHER T-SHIRT IS A CLOAKING DEVICE" written across the chest.
The navy blue, 100% cotton t-shirt is perfect for Eureka fans who like to show their support for the show when they’re out and about. Or it’s great for just hanging around the house, watching Eureka, whether it’s a new episode or an old one from the Eureka dvd box set you couldn’t stop yourself from buying.
If I have to explain why you want to buy this Eureka t-shirt, then you’re probably here by mistake. Serious fans are probably like me, excited and happy to see another new Eureka product available to purchase. Frankly, it’s hard not to want every Eureka product that comes on the market!

Reprise, Episode 4.12
Reprise is the second episode to air after the midseason break of Eureka and introduces Dr. Holly Marten, played by Felicia Day. The tension between Jo and Zane reaches a new intensity and a secret plot is revealed!
Here’s a link to the episode download: Reprise

One of the things I really liked about this episode was the introduction of Felicia Day’s character Holly. Holly fits right into Eureka and already I can tell that I wouldn’t mind her becoming a permanent resident.
While there are been good guest stars before, this is probably the first time where I warmed up the new person so quickly. Jack’s sister was an okay addition, but she never seemed to fit in. The rest of the guests always felt temporary. I know Holly might not be around long, but I do really like her.
The episode was a real pleasure to watch and I enjoyed it as much as last week’s episode. This is another 6/5 Eureka Fan Favorite that I’ll be watching again and again!

Eureka has graphic novels and comic books
There are some really nice graphic novels / comic books for Eureka, although I think there are only a limited number of these because BOOM! Studios haven’t produced any additional copies and you can no longer find them on their website. Amazon does have some copies left, and you can get them through Things from Another World also, at a fair price.
I’ve gathered those that I could find onto one page on the site, Eureka Graphic Novels and Comic Books, linked off the Eureka books page. I’ve also included links to buy, just click the images of the book covers on that page to pull up all the information about whatever book you’ve clicked.

Liftoff! The Eureka Premiere Exceeds Expectations
Liftoff, the season 4.5 opener for Eureka, is a fantastic classic-Eureka episode combining all the great character, action, fun, and excitement that Eureka has always brought to the screen.
In Liftoff, Fargo and Zane become trapped in space when a rocket is accidentally ignited and lifts off from Eureka. Running out of breathable oxygen quickly, they realize they’re going to have to get an experimental FTL drive working, but even if they succeed, there’s no guarantee their friends are going to be able to provide a safe landing for them.
If I wanted something to make me feel good about the upcoming episodes of season 4.5, this opening episode was just the thing. Eureka is back. I can’t wait for the rest of the season to play out.
