The Real Thing, Episode 5.02

Have to say this was probably a tricky episode for the writers/director of Eureka, simply because it involved the real world and a virtual environment with all the same people! They did a great job with it, though, and I never once found myself confused about where I was, if I was watching the real world or the virtual world.

Picking up about a month after where last week’s episode left off, The Real Thing takes us back to the real Jack Carter and Henry Deacon so we can see how the search for the Astreus crew is going. We get to see parallel story lines and a bad guy is revealed–and I was not surprised!–but it was a great move anyway.

I loved the Zane and Allison interactions, as they try to cope with the significant changes in their relationships with Jo and Jack, respectively. I adored Holly, as usual, and think she’s one of the best new characters on Eureka, EVER. But, the end came, and I held my breath in anticipation of the twist I could see coming from the moment Holly walked down that hallway.

The gut-wrenching sadness of that moment will stick with me until this plays out. I am holding out hope for a sneaky turnaround, but I’m afraid it might just be wishful thinking on my part.

All in all, The Real Thing is another fantastic episode of Eureka.

I am going to miss this series terribly at the end of this season!

Lost, Episode 5.01

Let me preface this with, “OMG. I LOVED this episode!”

For anyone who didn’t manage to catch the premiere episode of Eureka, you might want to skip this, because I am going to talk about all the juicy details that I loved and there will be spoilers, starting with the ending.

Although I was tempted to hope this reality was real, I felt enormous relief when I realized it was a construct created by Beverly Barlowe, one of my favorite bad girls from Eureka.

I still hope to see some time line changes before the end of the season, or at least something that brings back Nathan Stark, because I still miss him to this day.

I absolutely loved the emotional upheaval Allison has been put through, and seeing the tears in her and Carter’s eyes when they were having their discussion felt like it was going to break my own heart. Zane, of course, is still a favorite of mine, and seeing his own reaction was also awesome. I’ve wanted Jo and Zane back together since the beginning of season 4 when the time line changed (for the second time if you count the changes that happened in Once In a Lifetime from season 1, and I do).

I’m not sure how long this arc will last, at least while they actually believe they’re 4 years into the future, and honestly, I’m not sure how long I want it to last. Because although I like Allison, Jack is my favorite character and I’ve always considered Eureka to be his story. Keeping the fake reality alive only means keeping the fake Jack alive longer and I would rather spend the rest of my Eureka days with the real guy.

Finally, in the promo clips at the end of the episode, I know I saw Nathan Stark, and my hope is that he’ll be back for more than a single episode. I’m also still enjoying Holly (Felicia Day) and hope she sticks around, along with Dr. Parrish. :)

Nathan Stark Pays a Visit to Eureka in The Ex-Files

Spoilers for The Ex-Files episode!

I was never more happy to see a character show up than I was to see Nathan Stark return to Eureka. For anyone who has watched the episode The Ex-Files, you’ll know that his visit wasn’t real, but I loved it anyway. As someone who has always loved the chemistry between Stark and Carter, the byplay was excellent, even if he was just a figment of Carter’s imagination!

Stark is probably dead in this universe too, but I have noted that it’s never been explicitly stated, so although it might not be the smartest thing to do, I’m okay with keeping my hopes up that we see him again sometime. :)

You can download or watch online if you missed it, because it’s an episode that really shouldn’t be missed: The Ex-Files.

Another interesting note (fangirl moment here): Ed Quinn / Nathan Stark goes shirtless in one spot and the episode is worth watching just for that! ;-)

Friday, September 10th is the Mid-Season Finale of the series. Mark your calendar! I don’t’ know about you, but I certainly won’t be missing that one. (Actually, I don’t miss any of them. LOL.)

Eureka set to return July 10th!

The scheduled return of Eureka brings changes…
