I was never more happy to see a character show up than I was to see Nathan Stark return to Eureka. For anyone who has watched the episode The Ex-Files, you’ll know that his visit wasn’t real, but I loved it anyway. As someone who has always loved the chemistry between Stark and Carter, the byplay was excellent, even if he was just a figment of Carter’s imagination!

Stark is probably dead in this universe too, but I have noted that it’s never been explicitly stated, so although it might not be the smartest thing to do, I’m okay with keeping my hopes up that we see him again sometime. :)

Another interesting note (fangirl moment here): Ed Quinn / Nathan Stark goes shirtless in one spot and the episode is worth watching just for that! ;-)

Friday, September 10th is the Mid-Season Finale of the series. Mark your calendar! I don’t’ know about you, but I certainly won’t be missing that one. (Actually, I don’t miss any of them. LOL.)

Last I remember, Carter was fired (saw that and cringed at the end of that episode), Allison was pregnant, and Nathan (and Eva Thorne) was gone.

What a way to start the rest of the season!

My biggest hope is that I won’t get lost on shownight. The series has moved from its usual Tuesday slot to the Friday slot that was held by Battlestar Galactica. I see this working out in one of two ways for me. Either I love having something of a lighter fare to watch on Friday evenings in place of BSG, or I constantly forget that Eureka has moved from the lovely Tuesday night spot.

I hope the former is true. I fear the latter.

I’m also excited to hear that there might be a love interest for Carter soon! I think the pregnancy kind of makes Allison off-limits for the time being (she has to have time to grieve properly, don’t you think?). If you’ve watched From Fear to Eternity, you know that Carter was fired. So how did I vote in the poll?

I think Carter should be reinstated. So, I voted Yes. Although there are lots of great plot opportunities for the show if he doesn’t, I like him as the sheriff. Do you think Carter would he have to leave Eureka if he weren’t reinstated? What role would he have in the town?

I’ve thought about this a little bit. He could be a detective, like Monk, freelance but essentially working directly for the local sheriff’s department. Only… Carter isn’t a Monk.

He could be a resident of the town. On several previous episodes, Zoe has revealed a flair for doing well in the Eureka school Tesla. But his role would be greatly diminished.

I don’t really think any of this will happen, because I happen to believe he will eventually be reinstated in some capacity as a law enforcement official in Eureka.

Anyway, I’m definitely interested in your ideas of what Carter would do if he weren’t sheriff, if you care to share!
