The video of the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con panel confirms that Taggart is coming back! I can't say for sure which episode, but after watching the trailer for Eureka from Comic-Con, I would bet it's going to be "Have an Ice Day." (Turns out I was right. What's the scoop on the Allison and Carter romance?
Over on the Eureka news and articles page, I link to an interview with Allison's actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield. After watching, it's pretty clear to me that the Allison and Carter romance is on hold for the time being as Jack gets the chance to have a romantic relationship with someone else. What's coming to Eureka with the resumption of season three's episodes on July 10th?
I mentioned the return date for Eureka's season three episodes on the Eureka news page. In that same article is mention of a few interesting tidbits for Eureka fans to think about. :)
"Eureka returns with 10 new episodes, picking up where it left off, with Jack Carter being removed from his job as Eureka's sheriff and Allison announcing that she is expecting her recently deceased husband's baby."
"Carter is...confronted by some challenging decisions on the home front where his daughter Zoe is concerned and encounters a new love interest with the arrival of Dr. Tess Fontana (guest star Jaime Ray Newman), who will supervise the re-opening of Global Dynamics' infamous "Section 5.""

Possible Title for Season Three's Tenth Episode
I'm speculating here, but it's unlikely that Carter's status as the sheriff of Eureka will be fixed in the first few new episodes after the season three mid-season finale. The reason I say that is because of the description of episode ten I found on Eureka Unscripted. "The central story of this episode rests on Jo Lupo's shoulders as she essentially gets to be Carter for the day. The concept is fun and emotional and Erica Cerra has really stepped up to the challenge." This on top of news about episode nine where Eureka Unscripted also says, "You may recall that Carter was fired at the end of the "mid-season finale." Our premiere picks up with him dealing with the aftermath and having to figure out what he's going to do next. Of course, there's another unique problem that arises in the midst of his redaction and you know Carter can't resist getting involved. It's a great season opener and will allow new viewers to be introduced to our town in a uniquely Eurekan way." Oh, and the probable name of the tenth episode? Your Face or Mine? I just love the Eureka titles that are a fun play on words.
When will Eureka start airing the rest of the season three episodes?
With no Eureka to look forward to this week, I went looking for a possible air date for the rest of the season three episodes. Over at Eureka Unscripted I found a few comments that answered the question—sort of.
"Given the calendar, we only had time to produce eight episodes in order to air in our usual July time slot. Thus, the decision to make 21 instead of 13, and break them into two blocks of eight and thirteen. We don't yet know our airdate for the second half, but look for it sometime in early to mid '09. Sorry we can’t be more specific. But the good news is we finished Season Three with our highest average ratings since the series premiere two years ago." (Emphasis mine.)
Spoiler: Love for Carter?
Scifi Wire gives us some good news for Carter--he's finally going to get a love life! Oh, wait, I thought he had one, you know, the girl who does his dry cleaning... According to the article, "Carter (Colin Ferguson) will finally explore a romantic relationship." So maybe they forgot about the girlfriend from season two? Source: Scifi Wire
UPDATE: In the 2008 Comic Con panel video, one of the panelists says about Carter and Allison, "This season is about starting to bring them back together again, and of course this is complicated by the proposal from Stark last season, so I think towards the back half of this season, depending on how things play out with these two, there could be somebody else who comes into the mix and messes things up." New cast member for season three of Eureka
Scifi Wire says Eureka will be adding Frances Fisher to the cast who'll take the role of Samantha Thorne, a Global Dynamics "fixer" who is going to appear in an eight-episode plot arc.
